Kick It 3v3...Final Four!!!

It was time for the final four; we woke up this morning just ready for some fun soccer.  Why do I say that; Brayden had far exceeded my expectations of their team.  First they qualified to go to Disney; second they got to Disney and during the tournament had gone undefeated through the whole tournament; and not only that they had played some brillant soccer.  If they came in this morning and for some reason did not show up they still were going home as the 4th best U8 Kick It team in the Nation and would still finish 4th out of the 16 great teams that had qualified for the tournament.  But we all knew that they had played so good they could if they played their best soccer actually walk away the best team in the nation.

The first game is about to begin and the Wolves are sticking to the game plan and get to an early lead.  The other team comes back and ties the game and then actually gets up by two and time is running out.  I am walking around thinking that's ok we had a great run and they played a heck of a tournament.  That said when I looked at Brayden there was pure determination that he was not going to lose this game.  They came back and tied the game just prior to the whistle being blowed.  We had gone from we are going to win this game; to oh no we are going to lose this game; to we have a tie.  Time for overtime to which both teams played incredible defense and neither team could find the net.  PK's - we get 3 in and they get 2 in.  That's right boys we are in the Championship Game.  It was a very draining and emotional game but again they had pulled it out and remained undefeated.

The championship game was up next so it was time to get ready for the game.  The other team looks good and they are here to win the game as well.  Both teams played well and put their heart on the field but the wolves were not able to get the win.  The thing I liked about it; everyone was disappointed; but the wolves crowd cheered louder for our guys after the game than the other team that had just won the championship.  That said you could see the defeat and disappointement in the boy's face.  The coach calls them all in and said boys remember you can go to school and tell everyone you played on the 2nd best team in the nation; not in your county; in your state; but in the nation.  We all told them congratulations and gave high fives.

Then it was time to go to the awards ceremony where it reminds you exactly what you accomplished.  When you look at how many teams were there; how many teams had played in the tournaments throughout the year just to get here...you are on the stage holding the trophy.  Brayden you are a star and we were so proud to be a part of this experience....you made Paige, Samantha, and I so proud!!!
